BDOG Celebration in Auburn - May 7, from 4 pm to 6:30 pm
Nine nonprofits will celebrate the annual Big Day of Giving on May 7 from 4 pm to 6:30 pm in downtown Auburn. The celebration will include arts and crafts, storytelling, music, and more.
Seven of the nonprofits will be at Branches at the Carnegie located at 175 Almond Street with a variety of family fun activities, booths, a raffle and snacks. The Friends of the Library will hold story time at 4:30 pm, 5 pm, 5:30 pm and 6 pm. Placer Artists Tour will host a number of creative activities featuring local artists inside the art room. Placer Land Trust and others nonprofits will be in the garden with information and items to share. The event includes a raffle. Each adult visitor to the Branches at the Carnegie location receives a free ticket to enter the raffle when they attend.
The Symphony and State Theater will be at the Art Park located at the corner of High and Lewis Streets. They will have music, performances and an instrument petting zoo.
Big Day of Giving is the region’s annual 24-hour giving day hosted by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation www.bigdayofgiving.org.
The nine nonprofits came together to support each other and celebrate the variety of contributions they make in the areas of education, arts, music, health and welfare, and land preservation for the Auburn area and Placer County.
The opportunity to donate opens April 23 and closes May 7 at midnight. For many nonprofits, the Big Day of Giving is one of the largest annual fundraisers. Donations made to the organizations are often augmented by matching donations. The smallest contribution can make a big difference.

We offer very affordable space in the historic building built by Andrew Carnegie in 1902 that has now transformed into a center of celebration and exploration for the whole community.
American Association of University Women - Auburn Branch
AAUW advocates for gender equality in education, economic security, and leadership at the national, state, and local levels. We empower women through scholarships, sponsorships, public policy advocacy, and training.
The Auburn AAUW Branch provides scholarships to graduating high school students, women returning to college to complete an education, those moving from a 2-year college to 4-year university, and graduate students. We also support a number of “Trek” programs including Tech Trek (a science, technology, engineering and math oriented camp), and Speech Trek.
The Auburn Senior Center was created by a group of determined seniors who felt that seniors needed a place where they could come and keep out of a rocking chair. Through lots of determination and commitment they achieved the impossible, opening a center in October of 1980 in the Dewitt Center. In 2015 the Center relocated to downtown Auburn, and then moved again in 2021 to its current location in North Auburn. Today, Auburn Senior Center has over 800 plus members from three counties: Placer, El Dorado and Nevada. Nearly half are active in daily activities including volunteering at the Center.
In the beginning, the Friends stated purpose was to assist with the library budget and to help explain the functions of the library to the community. After almost 70 years, the Friends of Auburn Library keep this vision clear by advocating for the library, host activities that foster learning and community awareness and raise funds to enhance collections and library goals. The programs include the monthly Used Book Sales the first Tuesday and following Saturday of each month.
PFLAG Greater Placer County
PFLAG facilitates separate monthly in-person and online support groups, as well as a weekly support group for parents and allies of transgender folks. We also provide periodic programs for special topics and events. Each month, as part of our support groups, we provide a different education topic relevant to the time of year (back-to-school, coming out, etc.). For the parents / allies of transgender folks, we provide a faith-based discussion one week, book club the next week, sharing our stories, and trans-specific education topics. PFLAG strives to partner with other local and National organizations to educate key decision-makers about the issues that affect our loved ones and families, and to teach others how to use their voices to amplify our efforts toward a more equitable, and just world for the LGBTQ+ community.
We bring artists and the community together through creative experiences that make the arts visible, accessible, and fun—year after year, across Placer County.
For 35 years, Placer Land Trust worked with willing landowners and conservation partners to permanently protect and care for natural and agricultural lands in Placer County for current and future generations. We believe that the preservation of wild open spaces, farms and ranches, natural resources, and natural playgrounds are vital to our quality of life today and in the future. Protecting these landscapes is essential to successfully build and sustain connections among people, their community, and the natural environment.
